The Divine Secrets of a Southern Diva

Random Goodies

good·y 1 (gd) Informal

interj.

Used to express delight.
n. also good·ie pl. good·ies

Something attractive or delectable, especially something sweet to eat.

I love me some goodies. Food goodies, TV goodies, reading goodies. Delicious and scrumptious and meant to be devoured.

TV Goodies:
I am so sad to see this go. I will miss the skanktastic drama and half nekkid chicks doing anything to get a career going. I am glad picked Ambre because, again, he chose the intelligence and maturity over tits and… tits. Is it real? Who knows. I’m just glad he didn’t pick monkey girl with the tranny face and hot bod.

Monkey girl:

She looks like a characeture of a real person. All exaggerated and false. Her nickname should be Visa because she’s plastic but I call her Monkey Girl because her wrists do this weird monkey limp when she’s expressing herself. When she talks it’s like a bowl full of whiney stupid comes pouring out. Maybe if she was mute she wouldn’t be so annoying.

He chose Ambre who is a bit older, more mature and more intelligent. She seems like a genuine person, but who the fuck knows. I thought she needed a makeover, but apparently she got one for this show. Her IMDB page has pics of her when she’s “acting” or “hosting”. The rocker chick thing seemed fake. She’s pretty when she’s normal looking.

I can’t wait for the reunion show next week. I think Monkey Girl gets her ass kicked by Heather from season 1. Should be interesting.

Food Goodies
I’ve been on the go like a motherfucker lately. With all of the house fixin’ up, running around to showers and birthday dinners, taxes and work the last thing I wanted to do was cook. I have discovered some wonderfully easy delicious frozen dinners at the grocery store, though. Not even playin- this is good shit. And I’ve never been a fan of any sort of frozen dinner type thingy.

These little bags pack in a lot of flavor. You open them up, poor them into a coverable skillet and cook for 10 minutes. 1 pot. No mess. Totally delicious. I’ve had the chicken parmesan and the shrimp one with penne, black olives and zucchini. If you are cooking for 2, make sure you have salad and bread to go with it because it’s really not quite enough. At least not for me.

Michelina’s lean gourmet

Holy shit. For a buck you seriously can not beat this. It’s not near enough for a lunch on its own, but it’s really tasty- much more so than Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice and it’s a fucking BUCK. Grab that, some yogurt and a salad and it’s a fantastic lunch.

Blog Goodies
I’ve got to shout out to my blog hommies to the right of the screen.

In order of appearance which is alphabetical because that’s how my blog rolls:

She’s a crazy tiara loving Diva just like my self who happens to give sage advice and a belly full of laughs.

My Mikey’s blog. He’s funny and sweet and so are his blogs. Unlike his tweets, they aren’t all about me or his work. That can be good or bad depending how you look at it.

The musings of my very crazy dear friend Mysti and her quest for entertainment between radio gigs.

The Queen of Knitting blogs about her life as a mother, knitter and working girl. (Not that kind, pervs.) It’s still being styled a bit but it’s on its way.

The online scrapbook of my precious little chunky monkey niece.

It’s a blog about a foodie who makes food and shows pictures of food. I’m a fatkid so you know I’m all over it.

The Planet Blog
The blog I get paid to write… amongst other things.

The man of (little) mystery who likes things I honestly have little interest in. But I like him a lot. He’s a great writer and he likes cheese.

Celebrity bashing goodness. He’s an asshole, but god, he makes me laugh.

The journey of my dear friend Yvonne who received a kidney transplant. You’d never know she just went through that by looking at her. If I didn’t like her so much I might have to hate her.

Mike’s professional blog that… well, is highly unfinished. Someday, people.

Special shout out to Dianne. She did our taxes (at the last minute) and managed to take us from owing thousands to less we spend going out to dinner. You are the bestest. Please come home soon.

AND Amazon rocks because I just received my pre-order special edition of Juno. HOLLA. Now I can finally see the birth scene I missed due to drinking one too many diet cokes and margaritas.

Ok, I have work to do.

  1. Woot! Thanks for the shout out, homie! You know, coming from The Diva Ali herself, this is a mayjah compliment. I am humbled. Which, of course, won’t last, because well…the Diva thing ya know.

Can’t wait to check out these other sites!

Also — thanks for the Bertoli tip. I see those every time I go shopping and wonder if they’re any good, and now I know. Full disclosure: I am totally going to pass this off as my own cooking.

We should totally be their new marketing reps: “Bertolli–a busy tiara-wearing Diva’s best friend!” Serious. Millions. Think about it.

  2. Mysti

    CRAZY?

    Well…okay, yeah. Maybe a little.

I’ll have to check out that other knitting one, too. Perhaps someone has some pointers for me so I can go back to FUN, RELAXING knitting.

I couldn’t stomach Rock of Love. It turned my tummy to see them sticking their tongues down his throat, one after the other. Yuck, yuck and YUCK! He looks like he smells bad!

  3. Mysti

Oh, duh. Same knitting site as the yarnlove blog. I guess it redirected me and I didn’t notice. :-)

  4. MissMeg

Bertolli rocks my socks. Usually I’m the same way, I don’t buy frozen foods….and usually I make the italian lol. But yeah, they’re good. You just gave me a dinner idea. Thank you Ali, for the unspoken advice :)

  5. Dianner

Did I not tell you about Bertolli a long time ago? Hm. Yes, it’s quick and good and yum. I usually do Michelina’s for a quick lunch or something. Again, yum.

Holla @ the blog peeps. They all know how I feel about them, I tell them all the time.

Did you get your acceptance email? And you’re welcome. :) I love you – I’d do anything for you guys, you know that.

    Holla @ Juno.

  6. Ding: I’m in marketing, you know. You might be on to something there.

    Mysti- I scratched out crazy!

Mike- we are working on the job situation!

Meg- I’m so glad that I inspired your dinner choice. :)
